Leslie Anne Wilson is a Nakota-Cree from the Whitebear people. She assists and is working proactively to instill an Indigenous birthing and midwifery/doula initiative in the province of Saskatchewan. This initiative will help reclaim knowledge and traditional way of life in birthing and parenting. The need has been addressed for an Indigenous Birthing Network in Saskatchewan. Leslie is working to bring together teachings to empower and benefit young women and mothers of today through advice from the grandmothers, which begins with sharing and waking up the spirit of birthing in a traditional way.
