Terry Reid is of Heiltsuk (Bella Bella) and Oweekeno (Rivers Inlet) decent. Throughout the past couple years, Terry has dedicated his time to learning cultures and traditions from his Grandmother Evelyn; who is a fluent speaker of both Heiltsuk and Oweekeno Languages and was a Language teacher in Bella Bella Community School. Evelyn is a knowledge keeper and a champion within knowledge of traditional medicines. This is a perfect example of what is needed to ensure the future of our cultures and traditions in Canada.

Evelyn is a fluent speaker of both Heiltsuk and Oweekeno Languages and was a Language teacher in Bella Bella Community School. Evelyn is a knowledge keeper and a champion within knowledge of traditional medicines. Terry has relocated to Oweekeno to learn culture and traditions from his Grandmother, as well as best practices and techniques that can contribute to the future of our cultures and traditions. Within this video he has shared insights into what he has learned that works, and also what may not. Terry has a passion for learning our cultures and hopes that one day he will have the knowledge needed to assist the continuance of our ways of life. Terry has recognized the importance of language to our cultures and hopes to preserve the uniqueness of our Nation among the west coast of BC.
