About Me

I am a Cree woman born in Fort Vermilion, Alberta in Treaty 8 Territory. I am a member of the Little Red River Cree Nation. I am married and have two adult children, and live in Treaty 6 territory. Our daughter is in her 2nd year of University and our son is completing Grade XII this year. I am a 4th-year undergraduate in the Faculty of Native Studies, majoring in Native Studies, and minoring in History as well as the Aboriginal Governance and Partnerships Certificate. I graduate this June 2021. I've worked as a Research Assistant with First Nations University from December 2017, until March 2020. In that time, I worked alongside a couple of other researchers while attending university full-time , led by Dr. Linda Manyguns. Our research began by gathering stories from the Treaty 6 and Treaty 8 territories for NCCIE's portal of best practices in Indigenous education to be as a resource. A fantastic experience meeting many amazing people who are working within these territories and teaching Indigenous education so that we become aware of Indigenous worldviews and teachings.
