Miigwannanze (meaning ‘Little Feather’) Drum Group is led by Desire Mitchell in the Algoma District School Board in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The Miigwannanze program is offered to children and youth from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. Desire incorporates cultural teachings and ceremony to teach the students about Indigenous issues and traditions. She also invites Elders to share their teachings and speak with the children and youth. They perform in the school and in the community at different gatherings.
