The Under One Sky Head Start and Friendship Centre, located in Fredericton, New Brunswick, has developed a land-based education program to get children and youth ready for school. It is called ‘Take it Outside.’ Executive Director Patsy McKinney discusses the program’s success with teaching language and culture through on-the-land learning experience and traditional teachings. Taking children out of the classroom connects them to the land and with many Elders who spent their youth on the land.
