The First Nations Education Council (FNEC) is an association of First Nations and communities, whose mission is to take responsibility for matters of education in Quebec’s Indigenous communities. The aim is to ensure a quality education for children in all of Quebec’s Indigenous communities and emphasizes the importance of taking into consideration and respecting the specific characteristics of each community. FNEC advocates for the interests of the communities and seeks to help First Nations People to “be masters of their education”.
