This documentary film is about the Atikamekw language and culture in Opitciwan. Young and old alike take the floor to speak about the importance of the transmission of culture and the conservation and enhancement of the language among the youngest. The video is in French with English subtitles.
We thank the members of the Atikamekw community in Opitciwan for sharing their vision of their language and culture with us. We are particularly grateful to the members of the Mikisiw secondary school in Opitciwan (students, teaching staff) and the various carriers of knowledge who work with young people (cultural worker, kokom, etc.). The Atikamekw Nehirowisiw remain firmly attached to their territory and are determined to pass on their culture.
